Time In

Every season of the year, we invite you to take “Time In”. In these three-hour sessions, we give time for meditation, reflection, active investigation, and discussion.

Our “Time In” series continues on the 2nd Sunday of every month.

What does it mean to live a more intimate life? How do we become more attuned to ourselves and others?

Together, we create a supportive environment that encourages and inspires. In each meeting, we offer a new investigation and reflection, weaving meditation, group process, and experiential investigation. Our workshops practice mindfulness, which we defined as a non-judgmental, non-self-referential posture of caring attention that orients toward well-being and creativity.

Role Reversal as a Bridge to Compassionate Presence

We recognize in others qualities that we value and want to grow in ourselves. The part of us that recognizes these qualities in others is beginning to recognize them in ourselves. But we don’t yet trust them. The practice of Role Reversal allows us to access, grow and trust these qualities.

October 17

“Kiss the Joy as it Flies.”

Can we experience joy knowing that it is fleeting? What makes this difficult? What makes this difficult is that loss is painful and we naturally guard against it. When we guard against it, we can deprive ourselves from fully experiencing the joy that is available.

November 11

Gratitude!

With an intention to cultivate gratitude, we incline the heart, the mind, and the body towards a fuller appreciation of life – Life without conditions- Life as it is!

Reaching Out to the Parts of Us That Need to Feel Held

What Interferes with Compassion for the Self?

Self-compassion is a response to suffering. What interferes with this response is that we have not yet learned how to relate to and accept our vulnerability. How can we be kinder to ourselves?

This spring, we invite you take "Time In". In these three-hour sessions we will give time for meditation, reflection, active investigation and discussion.

“Forgiveness”

Please join us this Sunday as we examine our relationship with forgiveness. Zen teacher, Joko Beck wrote: “Our failure to know joy is a direct reflection of our inability to forgive." Starting with this truth, we will explore the experience of forgiveness. We will use enactment, group discussion and a meditation practice to investigate what challenges us in forgiveness. It is our intention to soften and release the armor of resistance to forgiveness and to allow more space to grow freedom, spontaneity and joy.

Winter Offering: Receiving and Offering Compassion (Closed)

Please join us for our Winter 2019 "Time In" program!

In this 3-hour workshop, we will deepen our inner world through meditation and mindful awareness and we will expand our inter-personal world through experiential enactment and group process. We move in the direction of viewing our difficulties as opportunities to grow. Our difficulties are the potential seeds of wisdom and freedom. You don’t have to be a meditation practitioner. We welcome all levels of experience. The only expertise needed is an open mind and a desire to experience.

Receiving and Offering Compassion:

Compassion is perhaps the greatest gift that we can be offered and that we can offer to others. We are born with an innate capacity to experience deep compassion. However, we find ways to insulate and protect ourselves from the inevitable wounding that takes place in the interpersonal arena. Much of this shielding does not serve us well: it dulls our spontaneity, creativity and joy. We need to find a way to respond to wounding that opens rather than closes our hearts.
In this afternoon, through guided meditation, active investigation and discussion, we will learn two practices that will support us in receiving and offering compassion. We will also have the opportunity to explore some of the obstacles hindering our capacity to receive and offer compassion.

Date: January 13, 2019
Time: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Location:
Sociometric Studios, 213 West 35th Street, Suite 806 (8th floor) New York, NY

Events & Workshops: Winter 2018 (Closed)

Winter 2018 Offering

We want to wish you a happy and healthy New Year! IntegralTherapy continues its “Time In” program with the following offering on January 14.

Restlessness, Anger, Desire, Laziness and last, but not least, Doubt. Recognize any of these?
These are commonly known as “Hindrances”. We all have them! They cover our vulnerability and cloud our vision. They interfere with our capacity to connect - with ourselves and with each other. Awareness of hindrances allows us to return to stable ground.
Join us as we name and investigate our relationship with these emotional dynamos. In this Sunday afternoon group we integrate mindfulness practice, meditation and action exploration. You don’t have to be a meditation practitioner to attend. We welcome all levels of experience. The only expertise we require is an open mind and a desire to experience.

Once again, we invite you take "Time In" from 1:30 to 4:30 on Sundays and join us. Conducted by Jacqueline Dubbs Siroka, ACSW, CGP, TEP and Jaye Moyer, TEP, LCSW-R

Date: January 14, 2018
Time: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Location:
Sociometric Studios, 213 West 35th Street, Suite 806 (8th floor)New York, NY
Cost: There is no fee for this programs. (Suggested donation $40.00 - $60.00)
A snack to share is welcomed too!

Upcoming Dates & Subject Matters:

“Handshake” (Closed)

Dec 10 2017
“Handshaking”, as taught by Tsonkyi Rinpoche, is a meeting between mind and the feeling world. Handshaking begins with embodied and welcoming feelings towards anything that arises in experience, including emotions, resistance, sensations and thoughts - our “beautiful monsters”. We learn to be with the things that we normally want to push away or grasp tightly. Exploring the “Handshake”, we will learn to create a more welcoming and accepting environment for all of our experiences. This is important because each of our experiences offers the opportunity to grow:30

“Growing Edge” (Closed)

Nov 12 2017
All of us have parts of ourselves that we wish we could nurture and develop. This session orients us in the direction we want to grow. Each of us will identify one area as the focal point of investigation: whether to be kinder, more patient, restrained, or spontaneous. We will look at the conditions that encourage and support growth. This practice requires developing deeper intimacy with ourselves.

"Benefactor" (Closed)

Sept 24 2017
In our first Sunday session we will introduce a beautiful practice that helps us open to receiving compassion. The “Benefactor” practice, as taught by Lama John Makransky, is adapted from Tibetan Buddhist meditation traditions. It is particularly helpful in repairing broken receivers. In order to feel and express compassion we must first be able to receive it. Unfortunately, many of us have broken receivers. We protect ourselves with hard hearts and ruminations on what is wrong and bad. Ironically, this perpetuates suffering and causes additional suffering in ourselves and in the world. Fortunately we can learn to receive. When we feel loved, held, safe and secure, we begin to relax and loosen our armor.

There is no fee for this program. (Suggested donation $40 - $60). A snack to share is also welcomed!

Time In - Spring 2018 (Closed)

Spring Offerings, 2018

IntegralTherapy continues its “Time In” program with the following offerings: Loving Kindness, Loving Kindness-Extended and Tonglen. These practices help us soften and open the heart. In these groups we integrate mindfulness practice, meditation and action exploration. You don’t have to be a meditation practitioner to attend. We welcome all levels of experience. The only expertise we require is an open mind and a desire to experience. Join us!

March 4th | Loving Kindness

We often do not take time to check in with the condition of our heart. In this afternoon we will turn our attention to our heart. We will teach and practice together Loving Kindness.

April 8th | Loving Kindness: Extended

We expand Loving Kindness to others, including those with whom we struggle. This practice supports us in letting go of resentment, which is a source of suffering and blocks our ability to experience joy.

May 20th | Tonglen

This is a practice of "sending and taking" which involves a combination of breathing and visualization. It is a practice of opening our heart to our own pain and to the pain of others. This meditation guides us in invoking loving presence in the face of difficulty.

Time: 1:30 to 4:30
Location: Sociometric Studios, 213 West 35th Street, Suite 806, NYC
Suggested Donation: $40-60
Reservation: Reserve a space by contacting (212) 947-7111 ext. 201 or (845) 774-9364.

CP Training Credits are available for Psychodrama Trainees and PATs.

Dana

dana blue butterfly

There is a long tradition of offering meditation instruction with no expectation of payment. Our “Time In” group and Jaye’s “Drop-In” sits are offered in this tradition: we expect no fee. “Dana” is a part of this tradition. The recipient of our offering might consider offering some amount based on a combination of perceived value and personal means. In the freedom of this exchange, we open to the heart aspects of appreciation, kindness, and gratitude.  In this spirit, we are privileged and honored to receive dana towards our work.

Testimonials

The value I receive from attendance in the workshops transcends both personal and professional space. Learning the techniques of deep reflection requires the time to pause, reflect—and discover. Moving from internal reflection to integration and then external action, requires a different set of tools—and practice, practice, practice! The ability to learn these techniques in a mutually-supportive environment with talented and knowledgeable guides and mentors is a...
Marete A. Wester Director of Arts Policy, Americans for the Arts
“I have deep gratitude for all the learning experiences I have had with Jacquie and Jaye. They have an inspiring gentle presence that they bring to all of their workshops… Jacquie and Jaye have perfectly merged the here & now philosophy of psychodrama with the practice of mindfulness allowing people to develop and rehearse the behaviors of compassion… I encourage every clinician to learn from Jacquie and Jaye as it will grow your own compassion, bring the practice...

The psychodrama master class was excellent. The teacher was wonderful; the class size was perfect." "The most valuable session I attended was Jaye Moyer's "Active Compassion: Mindfulness in Psychodrama & Group Process." The session was very small (8 participants) and was tremendous as a self-care and re-centering exercise. I have no training in psychodrama, but the experience was very powerful." "Very therapeutic!...excited to roll out with clients &...
Neuroscience to Clinical Practice, VA Spring 2014 Institute: Mindfulness, Compassion & the Arts in Therapy
The first time I stepped into the Labyrinth I was very naive to the journey I was about to take. I had no expectation, but stepped gingerly, not sure how many walls I would bump into and bounce off of along my way. I had never experienced psychodrama before and am grateful to the women I journeyed with who gently held my hand and guided me. I was unprepared for the raw emotion and the profound learning, and thankful for the incredibly safe and loving environment Jaye...

“You provide a gentle atmosphere of trust by your presence… In my mind, I finally have been able to move beyond the pain by imagining getting validation and support for the injustice; both have been empowering actions that have moved me from the paralysis (caught in the headlight) of victimhood- especially the Benefactor [practice])… I learned to physically connect with my body and soothe myself and have found an amazing way to do so, one I never thought of...
